When a child develops essential life skills, they are learning how to become self-confident, independent, understand their own responsibilities, problem solve, have self-control, self-awareness, and so much more!
But, overall, helping your child learn important life skills will build respect in themselves, as well as the feeling of being respected by you as you care about their development.
You may be wondering what aspects of life might be the most important when thinking about your child's development and when they should be learning them. And it may seem a little stressful as you think about checking off a list as they grow older.
Though, it can be much more simple than that. So many of the skills learned in the beginning of a child's life are tasks and situations they're going to go through each and every day anyways. This list is just here to act as a reference as you raise your child.
For example, you may be used to wiping your child after they use they toilet, so you don't realize they may now be old enough to learn how to do it themselves (guilty!). By teaching your child how to handle tasks and problems on their own, you are helping them to become an independent person in this world. And that's our sole job, right? Other than to keep them safe that is!
